Are You Essential or Non-Essential?

June 24, 2011

Businesses everywhere, specifically financial organizations, choose between putting profits or people first. And that decision makes all the difference. If profits are what are considered essential, then people become secondary, and unfortunately become non-essential. It is only when the consumer is considered essential, and the profit is secondary, that people are valued for who they are, and can feel validated as an individual.

Jeremy's Journey: Required Meetings with Personal Bankers?

June 23, 2011

Jeremy was shocked the other day while making a deposit through the drive through at his big bank. On numerous occasions previously he has had to play games to keep his "free checking", free. So far he has had to:set up automatic transfers, open additional savings accounts, and transfer between accounts several times per month. This time, the teller waiting on him mentioned that he would again need to meet with a personal banker so that he could find out what he would need to do to keep his free checking free this time around. Even if he avoids a monthly service charge, it makes you wonder what value all this time meeting with personal bankers is costing Jeremy. We'll keep you posted.

June 10, 2011

No closing cost promotions are everywhere. Just type “no closing costs” into Google, listen to the advertisements on your radio, or check your junk mail. The question you need to answer is are you really getting the good deal these promotions seem to offer.

People vs Customers: What's the Difference?

June 02, 2011

Any product or service sold can be said to have a benefit for the customer, or else it wouldn't exist in the marketplace (or not for long anyway). So, by definition, every business is in the business of "helping" people somewhere along the line. The question is where? And does it matter? At Affinity Plus, we think it does. We think that if an individual customer benefits from a decision made, even if the organization doesn't, then it's still a good decision. Crazy? Maybe.
